Billing Specialist (Law Firm)

Billing Specialist | Part-time Contract 6 months | Mid-Size Law Firm | Chicago, IL Our prestigious boutique litigation law firm client is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced legal billing specialist for a part time contract role in their Chicago office.  Seeking a motivated individual with SurePoint experience to join their Accounting Department. Responsibilities:
  • Generate monthly invoice proformas at the beginning of each month.
  • Review invoice proformas for accuracy before circulating to the Billing Attorneys
  • Edit and process complex client invoices on a timely basis per client billing guidelines.
  • Submit paper and electronic invoices to clients.
  • Respond to internal and external billing requests.
  • Advise Billing Attorneys of aged A/R monthly.
  • Provide accurate and efficient Accounts Payable Processing
  • Maintain updated files of unpaid and paid vouchers.
  • Post client payments against accounts receivable
  • Assist with month end closing.
  • Responsible for opening and closing client matter files.
  • Responsible for maintaining timekeeper database.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements (Required):
  • Strong knowledge of excel
  • Ability to work independently and in a highly accurate manner
  • Ability to organize and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • One to three years of law firm billing experience; preferably electronic billing, SurePoint (Rippe & Kingston) experience.
  • Legal research: Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.
  • E-discovery platforms: Relativity
  • File management tools: iManage
  • Docketing and case monitoring tools
  • Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
