Writer and Copy Editor (TEMP OR TEMP TO HIRE) | Global Law Firm | Chicago, IL Our prestigious global law firm client is hiring an experienced law firm writer/editor on a temporary or temporary to hire basis in their Chicago corporate HQ office. Reporting to the Director of Global Communications, the Writer and Copy Editor is responsible for supporting the firm’s communications, business development and leadership professionals in both their internal and external communication efforts. This includes generating early drafts, proofreading and editing. The Writer and Copy Editor will interview subjects, draft talking points and stories, for members of the firm’s leadership. A key member of our intranet and web team, this role is responsible for drafting a wide array of web content. Highly competitive hourly pay rate as a temporary and salary for permanent hire.

Responsibilities:

Drafting and editing of:

  • Web and intranet content
  • Firm profiles, biographies and other content for various directories
  • Newsletters
  • Internal announcements
  • Talking points
  • Award nominations and survey responses
  • Marketing collateral materials
  • Posting content on CLIENT firms website, intranet, etc.
  • Obtaining relevant partner and client approvals
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the firm’s history, clients and services
  • Adopting the preferred active writing style of our managing partner and other firm leaders
  • Interviewing partners and subjects, and obtaining material for writing content
  • Researching secondary sources, both free and proprietary, to supplement content

Requirements (Required):
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on writing or equivalent work experience
  • Degree in English is a plus with high marks
  • Law firm experience is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
