Pricing Manager (Global Law Firm)
Pricing Manager | AM LAW 50 Firm | Chicago, IL Our prestigious and globally recognized AM LAW 50 client is hiring an experienced law firm Pricing Manager to sit in their Chicago HQ office. The Manager of Pricing will support and further develop the overall pricing needs of the Firm and its clients. The Manager will be significantly involved in developing, analyzing, and monitoring pricing arrangements and developing process improvements. She/he provides leadership of the Pricing team and works closely with and collaborates with other Firm departments, lawyers, and Firm management as necessary. A successful candidate will be a leader who balances analytical skills and knowledge of pricing with excellent communication. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience and a minimum of 8 years of accounting and financial analysis experience overall. The supervisory experience can include overseeing project work or similar. The ideal candidate will also have experience in a client facing role, strong analytical skills, and the ability to think outside the box and use data to tell a story. The team would ideally like to see candidates at the manager level, but they may consider someone looking to take a step up. At some firms, that may include those in a Sr. Analyst position. However, titles don’t always align with responsibilities, so the team is open to considering different titles if the candidates have the right experience. Responsibilities:
- Act as key resource on select clients requiring ongoing significant financial support and matter management, both internally and externally.
- Manage standard billing rates for all Firm timekeepers, including the annual standard rate review process.
- Create models to assess the financial impact of pricing proposals and assist in the development of creative pricing solutions in response to client demands.
- Develop key relationships with firm personnel across multiple functions, including Business Intelligence, Marketing, Accounting, etc.
- Track and report on complex and alternative fee arrangements to lawyers and firm management.
- Assist with development of internal and external pricing tools and provide ongoing support.
- Assist partners and the marketing department in responding to RFPs and ad hoc client requests.
- Develop tools and processes to leverage historical matter and client data to enable analysis and support for global practice groups and Firm leadership.
- Enhance and further develop tools and processes to support scoping of engagements and reporting.
- Keep informed regarding pricing and engagement arrangement tools and trends within the legal profession.
- Direct and supervise staff, including review of work, training, and mentoring.
- Promote high levels of service throughout group; ensure service standards are set and achieved by team; provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure a high level of service is accomplished individually and through teamwork.
Requirements (Required):
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
- A minimum of 8 years of accounting and financial analysis experience.
- Advanced capabilities and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, is required. Experience with Sharepoint, 3E, NetDocs, data presentation software and SQL is a plus.
- 2 or more years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff.
- Project management experience with the ability to efficiently and effectively complete projects.
- Must be well organized with strong attention to detail and good business judgment, capable of handling sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
Requirements (Preferred):
- Previous experience working in a legal pricing function, particularly at a large law firm, strongly preferred.
